Greg Hardy makes a quick, and somewhat dangerous return in just over three weeks in Moscow.
It’s a timely turnaround for UFC heavyweight hopeful, Greg Hardy. The former NFL Defensive end has been drafted into a heavyweight co-main event clash with Alexander Volkov at UFC Fight Night Moscow on just eighteen days notice, replacing a hospitalized Junior dos Santos.
The 31-year-old was involved in a rather bizarre ‘No Contest’ at UFC Fight Night Boston last weekend, as he used an inhaler in between the second and third round of his main card meeting with Ben Sosoli. He claimed that he was granted permission from USADA to use the inhaler before the event, and despite earning a unanimous decision victory, the win was overturned by the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission.
Russian striker Volkov was expected to meet former UFC heavyweight champion dos Santos in the event’s headliner, but a re-shuffle has seen the former Bellator and M-1 Global heavyweight best moved to a co-headliner clash with Hardy, while Zabit Magomedsharipov and Calvin Kattar will now close the show on November 9th, but since the short-notice, the featherweight bout will take place at an originally slated three rounds.
The former Dallas Cowboys member meets a huge obstacle in the form of Volkov, who holds a quite significant experience advantage over the ‘Prince of War’, with victories over former heavyweight best Fabricio Werdum, Stefan Struve and Roy Nelson during his Octagon tenure.
