PHILADELPHIA, PA — Dodge Sports client Aaron Jeffery (10-2) earned the Cage Fury FC (CFFC) middleweight title last Friday with a four-round unanimous decision victory (40-36, 40-36, 40-36) over UFC signee Collin Huckbody (9-3) in the main event of CFFC 93 on UFC Fight Pass.
Tillsonburg, Ontario’s Jeffery, 28, fully neutralized the offensive game of Huckbody, outworking the Minnesotan in the clinch and negating all of the grappling whiz’s takedown attempts. Event commentators John Morgan and CM Punk praised Jeffery’s strength, conditioning, and resolve in what they deemed a “chess match in the clinch.”
Speaking with Punk after the fight, Jeffery was characteristically hard on himself despite clearly outperforming the veritably dangerous Huckbody.
“That definitely wasn’t the gameplan; I wanted to do something cooler than that,” said the Canadian champion. “I can imagine that probably wasn’t the most exciting fight for the fans… I had a way to win, and it was working, so don’t fix it if it’s not broken.”
With the win, Jeffery added a prestigious regional title to his resume and extended his current winning streak to four straight victories — the first three of which were knockouts — since his 2019 loss on UFC President Dana White’s eponymous Contender Series.
Dodge Sports CEO Matt Dodge said, “Aaron faced some roadblocks this camp and was anything but healthy. He fought through adversity, made adjustments, and showed how world-class of a talent he is, mentally and physically. We’re ultra proud of his efforts and end result, and we feel that he has done more over the past 12 months than any other middleweight in the world. We’ll sit down with Aaron this week and present some offers that came in over the weekend.”
