Ahead of BRAVE CF 49, BJJ black belt Gabriel Fly says he can knock Dumar Roa out

Seef District, Bahrain – Brazil’s Gabriel “Fly” Miranda holds a professional record of 14 wins and 5 losses, with a staggering 100% finish-ratio and nothing less than 13 submissions. With that information it is safe to assume that Fly will be relying solely on his jiu-jitsu, right?

Well, not exactly. Ahead of his Featherweight title eliminator against Dumar Roa at BRAVE CF 49: Superfights, Gabriel said that he’s more than confident on his striking skills and that those questioning his stand up game are up for a big surprise.

“Whatever Dumar Roa brings to the cage, I’ll be able to deal with”, he said. “Those who think I only got my jiu-jitsu will be shocked on Thursday night. I’m more than ready for the fight, wherever it goes”.

But the confidence in his own skills does not mean Fly is underestimating his opponent. “Roa has very good striking, his counter-punches are great. He’d knocked so many people out, look what he’s done with the former champion Abdul Kareem Al Selwady. It was beautiful. But I’m ready”, he stated.

Miranda also reflected on the time he spent absent from the cages, almost a year and a half, and how much anxiety will play a role in the upcoming fight. “I’ve been away from competition for 18 months now, only training. But I used this time to evolve my striking even more, trained some wrestling too. I’m really looking forward to this fight and if he makes a mistake I’ll connect and he’ll go down”, he guaranteed.
