It seems the era of ‘Triple C’ will, in fact, continue, despite as advertised. Olympic gold medalist, and current UFC bantamweight champion, Henry Cejudo called time on a spectacular combat sports career at UFC 249 – following the first defence of his 135-pound throne. The California born wrestler managed a late second-round knockout of Dominick Cruz, and in his post-fight interview with colour-commentator, Joe Rogan – seemingly hung up his gloves with immediate effect.

A week later, it seems that decision may have taken a ‘u-turn’ already. Speaking with TMZ Sports recently, Cejudo’s manager, Dominance MMA head-honcho, Ali Abdelaziz cast some doubts on his client’s decision – even claiming we’ll see the 33-year-old back in the Octagon before the summer’s out.

Khabib (Nurmagomedov), every time he fights, ‘I think I’m done’,” Abdelaziz told. “Two weeks later, ‘Who you (sic) think I should fight next?’ Because these guys are at their prime. Henry’s (Cejudo) coming into his prime. How you (sic) gonna retire in your prime? Henry has everybody on their knees right now. I don’t think he’s gonna retire. You’re gonna see him fight by the summer.

Cejudo maintained after his interview with Rogan, that he was ready go out on top, and begin the next chapter of his life. The Fight Ready trainee vacated his flyweight championship to focus on a bantamweight stint and still has a murderers row of contenders lying in wait to challenge for the undisputed crown.

Cejudo began his Octagon stint back in December of 2013, winning five straight before his premier professional defeat to Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson in his first challenge for 125-pound gold. Failing to rebound in a contentious decision to Joseph Benavidez, Cejudo has been flawless in his last six outings. The Arizona based champion picked up wins over Wilson Reis, Sergio Pettis, avenged his defeat to Johnson, before defending the flyweight title against T.J. Dillashaw. Before his victory over Cruz, Cejudo picked up the vacant bantamweight title with a rallying performance against Marlon Moraes.
