American Fight League: “SOUTHWEST BRAWL 7” Updated Fight Card

LAS CRUCES (Wed, February 7, 2018)– American Fight League: “SOUTHWEST BRAWL 7” will take place at Las Cruces Convention Center in Las Cruces, NM on March 31st 2018.
Below you can find the updated fight card for this event. As announced earlier this week, this is an all ages event and doors will open at 6 p.m. and fights will start at 7 p.m. This card is stacked with the best professional and amateur mixed martial artists in the Southwest.
Tickets for SOUTHWEST BRAWL 7 are priced at $30 general admission so get there early. You can purchased your tickets online at holdmyticket by going here. The fight card will have 12 fights three professionals and nine amateur fights.
In the main event, Gerardo “Chapita” Chaparro Garcia from Juarez Mexico training out of Team Pro Atletes will take on Andy “Night Night” Varela from El Paso,TX training out of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu El Paso.
Garcia is ranked 30th of 93 active Mexico Pro Welterweights and also ranked 43rd at Lightweight. Garcia is coming in with two straight wins one by submission at WBG 5 and his most recent win by decision at Master Fight: MF II. Varela is ranked 7th of 22 active New Mexico Pro Lightweights and also ranked 10th at Featherweight. Garcia is undefeated as an amateur and as a pro hes 1-1. At his last fight was at KOTC: Territorial Dispute and took on Blaze Gill and lost via TKO due to Strikes in Round 2 at the 2:36 mark. He was scheduled to fight Chris Brown at KOTC: Chosen Few but the bout was cancelled.
In the co-main event, Jacob Ortiz from San Manuel, Arizona fighting out of Power MMA will be taking on Randy McCarty from Las Cruces, NM training out of Red Spider MMA.
Ortiz is ranked 28th of 144 active US Southwest Pro Middleweights and ranked 3rd of 17 active Arizona Pro Middleweights. Ortiz last fight was at Fight Nights Global 69: Bagautinov vs Nobre and was defeated by Roman Kopylov via KO/TKO and couldn’t continue at the end of Round 2. McCarty is ranked 67th of 144 active US Southwest Pro Middleweights and ranked 23rd of 61 active Texas Pro Middleweights. Randy last fight was at Border Fight Fest 14 and defeated Ricardo Guerra via unanimous decision.
