Andy Ruiz Jr meets Luis Ortiz in the summer, Tyrone Spong Triller fight off

Following just a couple of days where Ruiz was headed for a July 16 Triller PPV fight with Tyrone Spong, Andy Ruiz Jr will now face Luis Ortiz.

Triller has willingly stepped aside, but they do plan to do a Ruiz vs Spong after the Ortiz fight.

“We are working amicably with PBC to make sure Ruiz honors his obligations to both parties,” Triller Fight Club president David Tetreault told ESPN. “Had we known PBC intended to fight him prior, we would have never chosen this date. We enjoy a good relationship with PBC and we are currently working to identify an optimal date for rescheduling the fight. The date Triller lands on will be in collaboration with PBC and their calendar.”

Andy Ruiz (34-2, 22 KO) scored the biggest win of his career when he stopped Anthony Joshua to win the WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titles in June 2019. Andy didn’t fight in 2020, but back in May 2021 he came back and won against Chris Arreola in a PBC pay-per-view main event.

Ortiz (33-2, 28 KO) did fight twice since his second loss against Deontay Wilder. In November 2020, he fought against Alexander Flores and won that fight. Ortiz is coming off a sixth-round knockout win over former IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin back on January 1 in Hollywood, Florida.
