Announcing the First Fights of KSW 97 in Tarnów: A Royal Division Bout

In the main event of KSW 97 in Tarnów, fans shall witness a royal division bout. Szymon Bajor (25-10, 11 KO, 9 Sub), the heavyweight division’s number two is about to face Matheus Scheffel (17-11, 1 NC, 12 KO) ranked as number nine. The co-main event of the night will feature an exciting light heavyweight bout between Damian Piwowarczyk (8-3, 4 KO, 3 Sub), the ex-challenger for the championship belt and the debutant Maciej Różański (14-5, 2 KO, 9 Sub), a splendid grappler and a BJJ black belt. Their bout is going down on August 24th in Arena Jaskółka in Tarnów.

Szymon Bajor is the ex-challenger for the KSW heavyweight championship belt. In his last-but-one bout, he fought Phil de Fries for the title, but he had to recognize the Englishman’s superiority. In his next fight, Bajor faced Viktor Pešta and so he got back on the right course. The ex-representative of Universal Fight Team had a very eventful career. He’s the ex-champion of PLMMA and ex-interim champion of FEN. So far, his career includes 35 fights and he won 25 of them. He performed not only in Poland, but also in Japan, Wales, Russia, Germany and Slovakia. He was also a part of PFL and Rizin. Szymon is a versatile fighter ‒ he knocked out eleven of his opponents and submitted nine of them.

Matheus Scheffel had his debut in the KSW cage at XTB KSW Epic when he faced Darko Stošic,

the former challenger for the heavyweight title and got defeated. So far, Scheffel’s career

involved 29 fights and 17 of them ended with a victory. The Brazilian usually wins by putting his

opponents on the canvas. He has 12 knockouts under his belt and 11 times he managed to

secure them as early as in the first round. In recent years, Scheffel used to be a part of

Professional Fighters League where he contented for the heavyweight belt. Before coming to

KSW, Matheus fought mainly in Brazil and USA, but he also performed in China and Wales.

Damian Piwowarczyk is ranked as number two of the division and his career includes eight fights for KSW. The 26-year-old from Białogard had his last performance at XTB KSW Epic when he took part in the championship tournament. In its first leg, he secured a spectacular knockout against Kleber Silva, but in the finals he had to recognize Rafał Haratyk’s superiority. The recipient of the Herakles award for the Discovery of the Year 2021 in Polish MMA has eleven fights as a pro under his belt. He won four of them by knockout and three by submission. In KSW, he scored three bonuses – two for the best KO and one for the best submission of the night.

Maciej Różański’s career includes 19 fights as a pro and 14 of them concluded with his victory. The representative of Berserkers Team managed to finish 11 of his opponents and 9 of them lost by submission. The fighter from Stargard secured the championship belt of EFM Show organization and he also fought for organizations like Bellator, Babilon MMA, FEN or ACB. Różański got to perform not only in Poland, but also in USA, England, Ireland, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Belarus and Slovakia. Marcin is a BJJ black belt and he scored many medals in grappling competitions held in Poland.
