Ary Farias becomes interim Taura MMA champion after a gruesome ear injury

Bruno ‘Korea’ Mesquita is the new Taura MMA flyweight champion. The former UFC fighter dominated Felipe Gheno and submitted him in round 3 with a Japanese necktie. After a week of bad blood between both fighters, Mesquita handed Gheno his first loss since 2013.

‘Korea’ started the bout chopping down the champion with leg kicks. He also pushed the pace of the fight and landing to the body with hard kicks. In round 2, Gheno tried to control the pace with his boxing, but Mesquita changed levels and got the fight to the ground, dominating his opponent. In round 3, he repeated the plan and submitted Felipe with a Japanese necktie.

The co-main event had ultimately an anticlimatic end: in the opening seconds of the fight, Ary Farias took Johnny Campbell to the ground and landed an elbow that almost torn off Cupcakes’ ear. Referee Fernando Portella looked to the ear, which had been burst open, and stopped the fight. The TKO win earned Farias the interim bantamweight title.

Also in the main card, Sergio Moraes lost a unanimous decision to BFL middleweight champion Jared Revel. After a good start from ‘Serginho’, he appeared exhausted by the end of the first round. In rounds 2 and 3, the Canadian dominated ‘The Panther’ at his own game and almost submitted the Brazilian in the final seconds of the fight.
