AXS TV FIGHTS Celebrates Some of MMA’s Most Historic Matches Beginning Aug. 9

Los Angeles, CA: AXS TV FIGHTS continues its look-back at some of the greatest matches in MMA history with three weeks of specials kicking off this Friday, Aug. 9 with 2009’s historic Affliction: Day Of Reckoning at 9pE. AXS TV FIGHTS commentator Ron Kruck hosts each Friday night, introducing the main cards and reflecting on the events, which also include 2013’s stacked card of future champions at Legacy FC 24 and the 100th anniversary celebration of Fort Eustis Army Base at LFA 46 in 2018.

First up on Friday, Aug. 9 at 9pE, Affliction: Day Of Reckoning—the second and final event under the Affliction promotion’s banner—features a line-up of some of the greatest heavyweight champions in MMA history, headlined by PRIDE and WAMMA Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko vs. former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett vs. Gilbert Yvel. This special encore marks Day Of Reckoning‘s return to AXS TV, after the Network originally broadcast the undercard of the event under the HDNET Fights label in January 2009.

Then, check out two UFC’s superstars—current Flyweight and Bantamweight Champion Henry Cejudo and former Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm—early in their careers as prospects in 2013 at Legacy FC 24 on Friday, Aug. 16 at 9pE. Also appearing on the loaded card are current UFC fighters Diego Ferreira, Charles Byrd and Ryan Benoit, showing the long legacy of AXS TV Fights as the launching pad for future stars of MMA.

The three-week event wraps up with a special re-broadcast of LFA 46 on Friday, Aug. 23 at 9pE. The 2018 event celebrated 100 years of Fort Eustis Army Base and featured U.S. Marine and current UFC welterweight Kyle Stewart in a title fight vs. James Nakashima and retired Navy SEAL Mitch Aguiar vs. Mumia Abu Dey Ali in one of the wildest 30-second matches in LFA history.

AXS TV FIGHTS returns to live action on Friday, Aug. 30 at 10pE for LFA 74 from Riverside, California, headlined by a heavyweight battle between LFA title challenger Jared Vanderaa (9-3) and the return of 6-foot-10-inch Brazilian and Team Nogueira fighter Renan “Problema” Ferreira (5-2), who had a controversial loss at LFA 70.
