Blaine O’Driscoll Asks Mokaev To “Bring A Pillow” To BRAVE CF 54 Because He’ll Get Slept

Blaine O’Driscoll has learned the bittersweet lessons that come with every setback, and now, after hitting a stumbling block six months ago, he is preparing to place himself back on the winning track.

This past March, the SBG Ireland standout dropped a unanimous decision to top flyweight contender Jose “Shorty” Torres in a three-round bantamweight clash at BRAVE CF 49: Super Fights.

Although the loss snapped his two-bout winning streak and spoiled his highly-anticipated promotional debut, he’s eager to wash away the bitter taste of defeat by taking on the best competition that the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts outfit can offer.

O’Driscoll returns to action on Saturday, September 25th as he is set to square off with Muhammad “The Punisher” Mokaev in the co-feature attraction of BRAVE CF 54, which emanates from Konin, Poland.

In order to meet his goal of redeeming himself in the eyes of his fans, the 29-year-old Irishman will have to be at his best and his grappling will certainly come in handy against a highly-touted foe such as Mokaev.

“I wrestle every single day, you know. We have a great wrestling coach here and he’s a solid coach. My wrestling will be fine. The truth is, maybe he (Mokaev) will get me down, but nobody can hold me down,” O’Driscoll said.

“All wrestlers and absolutely everyone who comes to the gym, they can’t hold me down you. I always get up non-stop,” he added.

However, Mokaev is no slouch on the ground as the Manchester, England-based Dagestan has victories by way of submission under his belt.

Despite the tough challenge Mokaev presents on the mat, O’Driscoll feels his skills on the mat should more than hold up in the fight.

“You can always try and I will keep getting up. Each time you bring me down, you are going to use more energy to do that and I will get back on my feet and get on you again,” he stated.

O’Driscoll believes it will be a different story if Mokaev tries to trade strikes with him in the stand-up department.

In a most recent face-off interview, O’Driscoll told Mokaev to bring a pillow on fight night.

Mokaev asked, “What’s the pillow for?”

O’Driscoll simply replied, “To go to sleep.”
