BRAVE CF 34: Alkhasov remains confident of getting Flyweight belt ahead of return

Velimurad Alkhasov, one of the biggest prospects in the world of MMA today, returns to the BRAVE Combat Federation fold at BRAVE CF 34, which takes place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on January 19th, in partnership with leading local promotion WFC. The Sambo world champion will face off against Zach Makovsky as he looks to begin another climb towards the top of the Flyweight division.

In 2018, Alkhasov was scheduled to fight for the title against Marcel Adur but failed to make weight, and even though he beat the Brazilian, he couldn’t get the belt home to Russia. After a year-long layoff, he’s ready to reclaim his spot as the top Flyweight in the world and guarantees that weight won’t be an issue.

“This time weigh cut’s going well. I already cut some kilos and I feel good. Honestly, my friends in the gym always call me “Champ”, but I understand, that without a belt I can’t call myself a “Champ”. At the same time, I feel confident that I can get this belt. With God’s help I think I can get it soon”, said Velimurad, who hopes to add his first stoppage in BRAVE CF against Makovsky.

“Because of the time away I had since November of 2018, I can’t really say how the fight is going to go. But I can say that I’m ready to finish him, either by KO or submission”.

BRAVE CF 34 marks the first event in partnership with WFC, as the Slovenian promotion puts its Heavyweight title on the line as Luka Podkrajsek takes on Viktor Vasic for the vacant WFC belt. Also set for fight night is the return of Middleweight contenders Phil Hawes and Rustam Chsiev, who meet newcomers Iuri Fraga and Romain Debienne, respectively.
