In a battle between two debuting warriors on the global stage of mixed martial arts, Egypt’s Maysara Mohamed emerged triumphant, walking out with the convincing win over Iraqi dynamo Issa Salem at BRAVE CF 48: ARABIAN NIGHT held at the iconic Arad Fort in Bahrain on Thursday, March 18.
Both men demonstrated a spirited effort over the course of three rounds, which featured a healthy stream of action from both corners.
Driven to claim victory against a grappling wizard like Salem, Mohamed intelligently avoided putting himself at risk in his opponent’s submission wheelhouse and exerted his best effort to dictate the action from the stand-up in the opening minutes of the first stanza.
Although Salem found a way to bring matters to the ground with a high-impact takedown midway point of round one, Mohamed made sure that he would regain leverage in the next frame. The Egyptian inflicted damage with a sidekick to the midsection and pummeled his foe a volley of hard elbows.
Mohamed continued the punishment in the last round, driving solid knees to the midsection and warding off desperate takedown attempts. In the end, all judges at cageside saw the bout in favor of the unbeaten Egyptian with three identical 29-28 scores across the panel.
Mohamed kept his win-loss record unblemished, extending his undefeated streak to five matches. Meanwhile, Salem dropped to a 3-2 slate.
