Brave fighters Lucas “Mineiro” and Luana Pinheiro nominated for local awards

Brave Combat Federation’s impact in Brazilian MMA continues to be a headline locally as two of Brazil’s representatives in the organization have been nominated for local awards. Former lightweight champion Lucas “Mineiro” and strawweight rising star Luana Pinheiro are among the nominees for the FMMAMG (Minas Gerais’ Mixed Martial Arts Federation) awards for 2018. The organization honors MMA athletes that either train or were born in the state of Minas Gerais.

“Mineiro”, who impressed in his first bout of the year against Luan “Miau” Santiago at Brave 11 in Belo Horizonte (capital of the state of Minas Gerais, in Brazil), is nominated for International Male Athlete of The Year, alongside the likes of Paulo “Borrachinha”, Cézar Mutante, Matheus Nicolau and Rafael Sapo. Lucas is currently recovering from an injury sustained during his loss to current champ Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady back at Brave 18.

Meanwhile, Luana is mentioned in two different categories. She’s nominated as a possible winner for Female Fighter of The Year and also International Female Athlete of The Year. Pinheiro had a promotional debut to remember as she quickly tapped out Elaine “Pantera” back at Brave 11, in april. She was due to face Micol De Segni at Brave 20, in India, but had to pull out due to a hand injury.

Other athletes mentioned in the awards are Bruno Assis, who also had a victorious Brave debut in Belo Horizonte. The middleweight fighter, who will resume his Brave career shortly, is nominated for Male Athlete of The Year, alongside former Brave fighter Carlos Soares.
