Clarksville, Tennessee: Johnathan Ivey’s Cage Fighting Championships 10 will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Appleton Harley-Davidson in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Christan Lozano made his debut in the CFC at CFC 7. Lozano showed toughness and heart that night but came up a little bit short losing by judges decision that night against Isaac Morris. June 26th he returns to the CFC to take on Seth Britton in a matchup that promises some fire works. FightBook MMA CEO Roberto Villa had the opportunity to talk to Lozano about his upcoming bout. Check out the conversation below.
FBMMA: Thank you Christan for taking the time to talk with us! You’ve got a big fight coming up in the CFC on June 26th. How is training going?
Lozano: Training is going good been getting my cardio right and doing one on ones with my kickboxing coach and just getting my head right can’t wait to get back in the cage.
FBMMA: Your older brother Zack Lozano is also a MMA fighter that has been on CFC events in the past. How is it to have a brother who also trains and knows the sport? Does he give you suggestions or strategies for training or thoughts on your upcoming opponents?
Lozano: It’s good having him train also we give each other an extra push and keep each other motivated and yeah he kinda looked up some stuff on Seth and just told me a few things to look for.
FBMMA: June 26th at CFC 10 you are fighting Seth Britton. What are your thoughts on Britton and how do you see the fight going?
Lozano: I know he wrestled in high school and now trains ju jitsu which is pretty much exactly like my resume and usually when you have two grapplers come together the fight tends to stay on the feet, either way, I’ll be ready.
FBMMA: CFC owner Johnathan Ivey has said there are 4 flyweights fighting at CFC 10. That he’s looking at it as a possible four man tournament to decide who will become the CFC flyweight champion at CFC 11. Are you looking at Britton like he’s just one step in the journey to become the CFC flyweight champion later this year or are you just taking it one fight at a time and only focused on fighting Britton on June 26th?
Lozano: I’ve always been thought to have short-term and long-term goals so yes I think about and visualize myself with the belt but the short-term goal is CFC 10 and coming home with the W.
FBMMA: In your debut at CFC 7 you lost a judges decision to Isaac Morris. Is that a fight you would like another chance to do again or have you mentally moved on and that’s just a fight that’s in the past and you have no interest in fighting Morris again?
Lozano: The sky is the limit right I’d definitely like the opportunity to fight for the bantamweight title at some point so yes I would take that fight again but first I want to take over the flyweight division.
FBMMA: We wish you the best of luck on June 26th Christan. Is there anyone you would like to thank or give a shoutout to before we end this interview?
Lozano: I’d just like to thank all my coaches Logan Nash, Krazy Kyle Lee, Sean Patton, and teammates for always giving me the best that they got also a huge thanks to my girlfriend who always supports me and my fighting but also pushes me to be better. Can’t wait to see y’all on June 26th.
