Murfreesboro, Tennessee: Johnathan Ivey’s Cage Fighting Championships is starting 2020 with HUGE BANG! The promotion is ready and will be hosting CFC 8. The event will take place on March 7th in Murfreesboro Tennessee at the MID TEN EXPO.
In this night of action we have Chase Mcmullen who’s the current CFC super heavyweight champion. Mcmullen is undefeated in the super heavyweight division and has finished every opponent he has fought in that weight division. March 7th he defends his CFC super heavyweight title against the CFC super heavyweight #1 contender Brian Meeks. Before he defends his strap he sat down with FightBook MMA.
Chase you have a huge fight coming up in the CFC on March 7th! You’ll be defending your CFC super heavyweight title against the #1 contender Brian Meeks. How has preparation for this fight been going?
It’s been going good had some setbacks with sickness, but I’m ready to defend this tittle.
Meeks is a guy that likes to slug it out. I don’t think we’ve seen you go for a takedown yet, is this the fight we might see you want to work some grappling?
Definitely not I’m looking forward to this fight it’s a great matchup for me. He’s my only opponent to come in at a weight close to my own so I’m looking forward to striking it out with this guy.
We watched your In Depth interview with Johnathan Ivey and seen the video of you being attacked by a group of men. We love the fact that you tried to walk away from the problem but when they kept bringing the fight to you, it looks like you finally had enough and punched back. Did you bang up your hands at all in that and are you 100% for your fight March 7th?
Well honestly I banged my hands up long before that night against the mountain Lavelle Miller who just refused to go down. So as far as 100% yes I am 100% I come to fight.
Meeks last fight was against a debuting fighter. Did you get a chance to watch that fight yet? Do you think it’s a representation of Meeks ability or are you unsure because of the lack of experience of his opponent.
I believe he’s gotten better since that match so I can’t give firm statement as to his abilities I can only get in that cage and win with my abilities. That being said I’m planning to fight a brawler.
Thanks Chase for taking the time to talk with us and we wish you the best in your title defense March 7th. Is there anyone you would like to thank before we go?
As always I wanna thank my wife and family for helping out when they can with this balancing act. Team Bushido for getting me to this point and helping me get ready. Thank you to my friends as well as fans your support means the world.
