Klidson de Abreu has a new opponent for his first Brave title defense. The Brazilian powerhouse will face Matt Baker in the co-main event of Brave 11, set for Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on April 13th. The Light Heavyweight phenom was initially scheduled to face Kennedy Nzechukwu, but the Nigerian was forced to pull out of the title fight due to injury and has been officially replaced by Canada’s Baker.
Abreu was crowned Light Heavyweight champion back in August of last year as he submitted previously undefeated Timo Feucht with a triangle-armbar combination at Brave 8. That was Klidson’s second promotional win as he also submitted Artur Guseinov at Brave 4, with a rear-naked choke.
Baker, on the other hand, will be making his Brave debut in Belo Horizonte. He fights out of Pitbull Brothers gym and has a record of 14 wins, nine losses and two No Contests.
Brave 11 will be headlined by an interim title fight between Lightweight stars Luan “Miau” Santiago and Lucas “Mineiro” Martins. Also set for the show is the debut of jiu-jitsu legend Bruno Malfacine as he takes on local Rafael “Mini Man” at Flyweight, and the first-ever Gesias Cavalcante fight in Brazilian soil – the MMA pioneer will face Erivan Pereira in the main card.
