Combate Americas Bantamweight Champ José “Pochito” Alday defends his title against Gustavo López

NEW YORK – Combate Americas announced a rematch for the bantamweight (135 pounds) belt between champion José “Pochito” Alday(12-3-1) and challenger Gustavo López (9-4-) 1), live, exclusively in English for the US and Canada through DAZN (10 pm ET / 7 pm PT), from the Casino del Sol in Tucson, Arizona, on Friday, March 29.

Tickets for Combate Americas: Alday vs. Lopez 2, will be on sale on Friday through CombateAmericas.com/Tucson.

“This is an incredible rematch that has to happen, after these two warriors went to war for three rounds,” said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren . “If the rematch is something similar to the first match, we will have a candidate for the fight of the year in our hands.”

In the action will also be the middleweight clash (185 pounds) between Kobe “The Stunna” Ortiz (16-7) of San Manuel, Arizona and James “Loose” Cannon (7-4) of Tucson.

Óscar “Jacare” Suárez (4-2) from Tenerife, Spain, will fight with Brazilian Joao Camilo (4-2) from Tucson via Goiana, Goias, Brazil, at 125 pounds.

Andy “Golden Boy” Perez (9-7) of Tucson will face Eduardo “El Pube” Alvarado Osuna (6-5) from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, in a clash of pesos bantams.

In one of two women’s fights, undefeated Codie Wareham (2-0) from Phoenix, Arizona, will collide with Gabby Romero (2-3) from Los Angeles, California, via Albuquerque, NM on the weights (115 pounds). Also Marisol Ruelas (0-1) of Chicago, Ill, faces Corrie Ward (0-3) of Tucson.

The rematch between Alday (27) of Tucson and Lopez (30) of Las Vegas, Nevada, via Yakima, Washington, will take place six months after both stars clash for the vacant bantamweight title, in a single battle of three assaults held in Phoenix, Arizona.

The two athletes left everything in the cage, until the battle was decided by the judges, where José Alday took the best part by split decision.

To get to the title fight, Alday obtained a split decision before the superstars John “Sexi Mexi” Castañeda , in front of an audience of more than 4.6 million viewers throughout the United States and Mexico, by Univisión and Azteca 7

The conquest of the title represents one of the greatest achievements of Alday, a dreamer born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

The rematch will mark the third time that Lopez, member of the Team Couture team of the legendary Randy “The Natural” Couture , will fight for a championship fight in Combat Americas. In his last presentation, he dispatched the Spaniard Vicente Márquez with a submission (Von Flue Choke) at 0:50 of the first round, at the COPA COMBATE on December 7.

To date, Lopez has five victories in Combate Americas, four of them through the (T) KO or submission.

Additional confrontations of the stellar poster, as well as the preliminary disputes for “Combate Americas: Alday vs López 2”, will be announced soon.
