TACOMA, Wash. – One champion successfully defended, while another fell at CageSport 54.
Tristan Connelly made the first defense of his CageSport Lightweight championship and Sua Tuani claimed the CageSport Heavyweight crown via a vicious knockout Saturday at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Wash.
Connelly, fighting out of Victoria, British Columbia, defeated challenger Tyrone Henderson after Henderson, who brought a three-fight winning streak into the contest, was unable to continue following the end of the first round.
Tuani overcame an early accidental low blow and connected with a devastating right hand which floored defending champion Foster 46 seconds into the second round of their scheduled five-round bout.
Tuani’s blow immediately sent Foster, who held a 45-pound weight advantage over his challenger, crashing to the canvas out cold, leading to the title change.
On the undercard, West Coast Fight Team 145-pound teammates Talon Hammons and Tim Lewis both scored victories to remain undefeated.
Hammons improved to 4-0 with a win over Kevin Boehm by second-round (3:59) verbal tap out.
Lewis increased his record to a perfect 3-0 with a second-round (1:56) victory over Josh Wright via arm triangle.
Justin Milani opened the card by defeating Joe Levasseur by second-round (4:17) rear naked choke in a 205-pound bout.
Jesse Tafoya notched his first victory as a pro, putting away highly touted 125-pounder Taylan Yuasa in the first round (1:04) with an armbar.
The undercard also saw Brandon Cromartie defeat Tigran Bagdasaryan by split decision (28-29, 30-27, 30-27) and Charon Spain notch career win No. 16 after he put away Armando Best by first-round (2:17) guillotine choke. Both fights were in the 145-pound division.
