Constantino Acquires Cage Wars And Holds “Meet The Fighters” Event This Tuesday

SCHENECTADY, NY – Anthony Constantino, CEO of Sticker Mule and professional boxer (2-1), has acquired a majority stake in Cage Wars, New York’s leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion. Tim Rankins will remain as General Manager.

A free “Meet the Fighters” event will be held at 6 PM this Tuesday (April 8th) at the Schenectady Armory. All are invited and free food will be provided by Vice & Virtue. Constantino and Rankins will discuss the future of Cage Wars at this event.

The acquisition follows political controversy that led to Cage Wars losing its residency at Rivers Casino after 27 consecutive sold-out events. Leaked audio revealed Democrat Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara attacking Cage Wars for accepting sponsorship from Constantino.

“I didn’t plan to acquire Cage Wars,” said Constantino. “But when I heard Angelo Santabarbara attacked Cage Wars because of my sponsorship, I decided protecting Cage Wars through acquisition was the right thing to do.”

Constantino sees the promotion as a premier entertainment brand and a powerful economic engine for Upstate New York. “People want jobs and fun,” Constantino added. “Cage Wars delivers both. It’s a big draw for the region.”

The promotion’s most recent event, held February 7 at the Glens Falls Cool Insuring Arena, was the most well-attended amateur MMA event in New York State history. The next event will be on May 17th at Armory Studios in Schenectady and will feature 4 pro fights on the card.

Constantino is a long time supporter of combat sports. At age 40, he debuted as a professional boxer and secured 2 straight knockouts before losing a decision.
