Dana White gives his thoughts on Matt Riddle in 2019 interview
Former UFC fighter and professional wrestler Matt Riddle was recently the talk around the MMA world, specifically the media. It’s been no secret that both Matt Riddle and UFC president Dana White weren’t on the best of terms since his departure from the promotion back in 2013. Their disdain towards each other back during the time he was released came to a point where Dana White even went on to use harsh words towards the MMA veteran during an interview with FOX Sports.
It’s worth mentioning as well before heading towards professional wrestling, Matt Riddle finished off an MMA record of 8-3 with 2 victories being overturned due to testing positive for marijuana. With all being said, Dana White recently took an interview with Barstool Sports and the subject of Matt Riddle was brought up during the matter. While Dana White stated that he has no regrets on releasing the Matt Riddle, he went on to state that he was glad for the success that Matt Riddle has received as of late.
“I’ve heard interviews with Matt Riddle, and he’s very fired up about being let go and everything,” White told Barstool Sports. “At that place and that time where we were, it was the right move. I’m happy for him. I’m happy that he’s been successful and he’s doing well. I don’t wish the kid any ill will.”
“I don’t hate Matt Riddle or dislike Matt Riddle in any way. I know he feels the opposite, as he should, but I don’t wish him any ill will or anything. But no, I don’t regret the decision that I made at that time.”
Matt Riddle however fired back at Dana White following the interview he gave on his official Instagram page, which pretty much seems to indicate that the two will probably not become friends anytime soon.
“Dana, I’m not mad that you fired me,” Riddle stated via Instagram. “I’m mad because you’re a heartless moron with too much money and power and felt the need to call me a loser after you fired me when I was on a four-fight win streak and had my third child almost bankrupting me.
“Also to say it was the right call to fire me is the dumbest thing ever, you literally tried to ruin my career/life because you’re a little bald bitch that couldn’t control me, so stop lying it’s sad bro.”
