UFC 271 on February 12. is currently earmarked to host the middleweight title rematch between reigning division kingpin, Israel Adesanya as well as former undisputed champion, the #1 ranked, Robert Whittaker. And according to the promotion’s president, the organization are currently working on hosting the event in either Seattle, Washington — or a major city in a return to Canada for the first time since September 2019.

According to UFC president, White, as per TSN reporter, Aaron Bronsteter, the promotion are currently targeting the UFC 271 pay-per-view event to take place in either Washington or Canada — with the previously reported pairing of Adesanya and Whittaker expected to headline the showcase.

Just spoke to Dana White who tells me that UFC 271, expected to be headlined by Israel Adesanya vs. Robert Whittaker is being targeted for either Seattle or a major Canadian city on February 12, 2022,” Bronsteter tweeted.

The promotion last held an event in Canada back in September 2019 when they traveled to Vancouver, British Columbia for a Fight Night billed event that featured a lightweight main event between former interim titleholder, Justin Gaethje, and future Hall of Fame inductee, Donald Cerrone.

In its last pay-per-view trip to the Great White North, the UFC hosted UFC 240: Holloway vs. Edgar in Edmonton, Alberta — with then-featherweight champion, Max Holloway successfully defending his title against former lightweight best, Frankie Edgar.

The UFC has held three separate events in Seattle, Washington — the last of which came in July 2013 where former flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson headlined a UFC on Fox event against John Moraga.

The most recent event to fall in the state of Washington was UFC Fight Night D.C. in December 2019 where heavyweight contender, Jairzinho Rozenstruik headlined against Dutch kickboxing icon, promotional alum, Alistair Overeem.

For its schedule amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the promotion progressively began returning to a live gate away from Las Vegas in April of this year, with UFC 261 taking place in Jacksonville, Florida — before the promotion traveled to Glendale, Arizona for UFC 263, back to Las Vegas for UFC 264 and UFC 266, in between a visit to Houston, Texas for UFC 262 and UFC 265.
