Daniel Compton: “I want to be remembered as a monster!”

FRESNO (Fri, March 16, 2018)– Daniel Compton caught up with FightBookMMA before the Santa Cruz contender fights Cartay Taylor for the CAMO State Middleweight Championship in the headlining bout of 559 Fights 63 on Saturday in Fresno, LIVE on FloCombat.

How did you find MMA to begin with?

I started wrestling in middle school, and I really enjoyed that one-on-one competition from a young age. I was introduced to some striking during high school and, from there, I took my first fight when I was 19. It’s been on since then.

What’s at stake in your upcoming fight on Saturday in Fresno?

The stakes are high for this next one — the Middleweight Championship of California is on the line. This is the biggest opportunity that I’ve had so far, and I’ve fought in the main event several times in the past. California is the biggest state and, if you’re the amateur champ here, I think you’ve earned the right to pursue a professional career. This is a huge opportunity for me; it’s a blessing.

How would you like to be remembered as a fighter?

I want people to remember me as being ferocious and vicious — a monster (laughs)! That’s how most fighters want to be remembered, but it’s definitely something that I’m trying to implement every time I step into the cage. I want people to be scared to fight me; I want people to think they’re going to get knocked out if they step in the cage with me.
