Daniel Cormier vs. Brock Lesnar Planned For UFC 241

A heavyweight clash between Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar is rumored to land on August’s UFC 241 card. Ahead of his appearance at tomorrow’s Wrestlemania XXXV with the WWE, former world champion Brock Lesnar is already mooted to make his Octagon return this summer, as he attempts to relieve Cormier of the crown.

The one-time heavyweight kingpin last competed at UFC 200 in 2016, picking up a unanimous decision victory over former PRIDE FC star Mark Hunt. Exacting a wrestling-heavy gameplan, Hunt avoided the heavy-hands of Hunt throughout. Just weeks later, USADA notified Lesnar of a failed drug test, resulting in a hefty fine and a suspension. UFC 241’s potential opponent Cormier, stopped Stipe Miocic in the opening round of their 2018 meeting to take the title, before successfully defending the gold with a submission victory over the charismatic Derrick Lewis back at UFC 230.

Both have extensive wrestling backgrounds, with Cormier a member of the US Olympic time, and Lesnar, an NCAA Division I wrestler. The rumored matchup would offer Lafayette favorite Cormier one final considerable pay-day ahead of his timely retirement.
