Desmond Green is facing traffic and drug charges prior to his involvement in the deadly crash

DAVIE, Fla. – Current UFC lightweight Desmond Green was involved in a car accident in Davie, Florida. Two people are left dead after a five-vehicle crash early Saturday August 18, 2018.

Desmond was involved in a minor crash before this tragic car accident and was cited at the time for driving with a suspended or revoked license and without proof of insurance per Broward County (Fla.) public court records.

On Aug. 2nd Green was in a minor vehicle accident in Deerfield Beach, Fla. He was cited by police afterward for driving with a suspended or revoked license and not having proof of insurance.

On April 20th Green was pulled over in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., area due to expired tags. The officer stated in the incident report that he smelled cannabis in the vehicle. The officer also stated that Green admitted to having marijuana and mushrooms in the SUV. Marijuana and mushrooms were found in clear plastic bags inside Green’s shoe on the passenger side. Per the incident report the amount of marijuana was less than 20 grams.

FightBookMMA obtained the citations for the suspended or revoked license and not having proof of insurance. Addresses have been removed.

 

All of these charges remain pending and Green could be facing new ones after the fatal crash over the weekend. A spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, Alvaro Feola, stated that the investigator has 90 days to complete a report and the toxicology results remain pending. This will determine if Green will be charged with a crime.

The UFC has yet to comment on Green’s situation.
