Since losing to Roman Reigns at the Clash at the Castles 2022 PPV event, Drew McIntyre’s babyface run had hit a low compared to where he was years prior. Before that, Drew McIntyre won his first WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36 and became the top babyface on the Raw brand, becoming a two-time WWE Championship over the next year while simultaneously defeating top stars such as Randy Orton, Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, and more.

However, because his WWE Championship reigns happened during a time when no fans were in attendance due to COVID-19, many have forgotten Drew McIntyre’s run as a top babyface on Monday Night Raw. Since then, Drew McIntyre’s on-screen character on TV revolves around being obsessed with returning to the spot he once had, showing a more bitter side to his character.

It’s no secret Drew McIntyre’s stock has taken a dip since his forgotten WWE Championship reigns on Raw ended, as it dipped even further after failing to win back the world championship from Roman Reigns at the Clash at the Castles 2022 PPV. But despite this, Drew McIntyre’s recent heel work on Raw has helped elevate him as one of the most prominent figures in WWE once again, receiving critical acclaim from fans and critics alike thus far.

From the in-ring work in his recent title matches with Seth Rollins to his promos on WWE TV, Drew McIntyre is on top of his game regarding the quality of his overall performance. Someone who’s come a long way from “The Chosen One” gimmick in his first WWE run, Drew McIntyre’s talents have evolved to become among the best all-around talents in modern wrestling.

Furthermore, although Drew McIntyre’s WWE status throughout 2024 is unknown, considering he may leave the company soon after WrestleMania 40, Drew McIntyre’s current heel is generating the most buzz for his character in a very long time. So much so that Drew McIntyre could be missing out on an opportunity to achieve the near-level of stardom he once had if he were to depart from WWE soon.
