Former UFC welterweight title challenger and middleweight fighter, Darren Till has confirmed his departure from the promotion upon request, as well as the release from his contract, however, plans to make a triumphant return to the Octagon in the future.
Till, who slipped from his #12 rank in the official middleweight pile upon the release of the official rankings update, was replaced by UFC Vegas 70 short-notice main event victor, Brendan Allen in the official rankings.
In the midst of a three-fight losing run, Liverpool native, Till, most recently featured on the main card of UFC 282 back in December of last year against South African finisher, Dricus du Plessis – suffering a third round rear-naked choke submission loss.
The loss came off the back of another rear-naked choke defeat to veteran middleweight staple, Derek Brunson in a September 2021 headliner, and a ‘Fight Island’ decision defeat against former undisputed middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker.
Confirming his release from his contract and departure from the UFC, Till insisted that he would be returning to the Octagon in the future, however.
“What’s happening everyone,” Darren Till tweeted. “Me, Dana (White) and Hunter (Campbell) are still cool as f*ck. I asked UFC 2 (sic) remove me just 2 (sic) sort some other sh*t out for the foreseeable. They happily agreed to release me our of contract which I appreciate. I’m not going anywhere, got big plans to execute & I’ll be back. (Gorilla emoji)
Challening then-undisputed welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley for division gold back in September 2018 at UFC 228, Till, 30, suffered a second round D’Arce choke submission loss to the gold holder.
