In an exclusive interview with BettingSites.co.uk, former Welterweight champion boxer Kell ‘The Special One’ Brook gives his insight into some of the biggest fights happening in 2023.

Kell also opens up about his recent altercation with Conor Benn, and the possibility of the two facing each other in the ring.

Interview Highlights:

  • I wouldn’t trust Benn to dope again – if we fought
  • Eubank Jr will get beat again
  • AJ should be beating Dillian
  • Khan’s failed drug test is terrible example for young kids watching boxing
  • Spence is the stronger fighter, but Crawford is snappier

I wouldn’t trust Conor Benn to dope again if we fought

Kell & Conor exchanged words back in May, fueling speculation the 2 would finally face each other in the ring, but Brook still isn’t convinced it would be a clean fight;

“I wouldn’t trust him {Conor Benn}. That is a fight where I’d definitely want to get the drug testers in.”

Eubank Jr talking rubbish about illegal elbows, he’ll get beat again

As news of Eubank Jr v Smith 2 reverberates around the boxing world, Brook give his verdict on how the fight will rematch will play out;

“I see the same outcome {Eubank Jr v Smith 2}. He {Eubank Jr} will get dealt with again. What he {Eubank Jr} was saying about (Smith hitting him with) an illegal elbow is a load of rubbish.”

These failed drug tests are terrible for young kids watching boxing

Rumours circulating that the last W on Kell’s record, Amir Khan, is coming out of retirement to face Pacquiao, although Brook still isn’t taking kindly to the Bolton boxer failing a drug test after their fight back in February;

“The last I heard was that he {Amir Khan} failed a drug test against me! I don’t know what’s happening in the game these days but good on him if he can make that fight. But all these failed drug tests are terrible for the sport and the young kids watching.”

AJ should be beating Dillian

With the anticipated rematch between Joshua v Whyte just weeks away, Brook has some cautious words for the favourite Joshua;

“That’s a tough one because AJ is a bit punch shy and Dillian Whyte hasn’t really been holding a shot too well. I know it’s heavyweight boxing and anything can happen, especially with the emotion that is involved with those two fighters. I can see either of them winning but AJ should be winning it.”

Spence is the stronger fighter, but Crawford is snappier

Brook is in the unique position of fighting both boxers, when asked who is the harder puncher, Brook responded;

“Spence is the stronger fighter but Crawford has snappier shots and he comes at you from different angles. We don’t know how Spence will perform after his car crash and subsequent inactivity or if he’s struggling to make the weight because he’s a big guy. Styles make fights and to be honest it’s a ‘pick em fight’.”
