Matheus Camilo is quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting young prospects in MMA.
The fast-rising Brazilian fighter has looked impressive early in his professional career, jumping off to a 3-1 start. His highly anticipated United States debut was an impressive first-round KO victory at XFC 45 in August on FOX Sports 2, FOX Deportes and around the world on XFCTV.com.
Camilo began his martial arts journey with Brazilian jiu-jitsu and kickboxing at the age of 13 as a part of a social project in his neighbourhood in Brazil. When he turned 16, he started training MMA in Rio de Janeiro with former world champions Jose Aldo and Eduardo Dantas.
“That was the day where it all began,” he says with a smile.
Camilo is proud of what he’s accomplished, but he’s certainly not satisfied yet.
“I’m headed in the right direction; I’m not where I want to be. Each day that passes and each lesson I learn, it makes me more motivated and stronger to win.”
Camilo is excited to resume his blossoming professional career with XFC, one of the biggest MMA promotions in the world.
“In the future, I want to be an example for other kids and young men like me, who come from the favela in Brazil, going through many difficulties in many ways, and managed to overcome everything.
“I want to make history as one of the greatest fighters of all time.”
