Four fighters part ways from the UFC

The UFC parted ways with 4 fighters, according to MMAJunkie, multiple people with knowledge of the situation asked to remain anonymous as the promotion hasn’t made official announcements. Below you can find the four fighters that have been “released.” The UFC elected not to re-sign certain fighters who were at the end of their contracts.

Michel Prazeres (26-4)

Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC

Michel Prazeres UFC career came to a halt after a back-to-back failed U.S. Anti-Doping Agency tests. He’s currently under suspension for a 2020 positive drug test and tested positive again in 2021. He was suspended and requested to be released from the promotion.

Maki Pitolo (13-9)

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Maki “Coconut Bombz” Pitolo only UFC victory came by second-round TKO stoppage when he defeated Charles Byrd at UFC 250: Nunes vs. Spencer. After that win, he lost four in a row.

Jared Gooden (18-7)

Jared “NiteTrain” Gooden has back-to-back unanimous decision losses against Alan Jouban and Abubakar Nurmagomedov. One of his biggest wins under the UFC banner was when he defeated Niklas Stolze 68 seconds at UFC Fight Night: Hall vs. Strickland. Unfortunately, his contract was not renewed with the UFC but he is expected to compete on January 21 for iKon Fighting Federation.

Matt Sayles (8-4)

Matt Sayles most recent loss was against Jordan Leavitt via Inverted Triangle Choke at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Daukaus. His last win came by defeating Kyle Nelson via Arm Triangle Choke at UFC on ESPN+ 9: Iaquinta vs. Cowboy. Since that loss, his contract was not renewed.
