Glory Kickboxing returned to the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden Friday night. The night featured two championship bouts. In a tie breaking bout, Alex Pereira knocked out Yousri Belgaroui in the first round, to complete their trilogy, and win the Glory Middleweight Championship.

The co-main event was a spirited contest for the Interim Featherweight title. Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao won a decision against Kevin VanNostrand, and the Interim Featherweight crown. He did this despite losing two points for committing fouls. The last time VanNostrand entered the ring at the Hulu Theater, in July of 2017, he won the Glory 43 Featherweight Tournament.

Kiatmookao’s Muay Thai experience gave him the upper hand in the clinch. Glory’s clinch rules played both, the antagonist and protagonist in this fight. On the one hand, Kiatmookao’s over aggressiveness cost him two point deductions. On the other, his effectiveness and volume in the clinch was the very thing that confounded and frustrated VanNostrand. In the end, the two points were a small hill for Kiatmookao to climb past.

The main card also featured Junior Tafa making use of Glory’s 3 knockdown rule to defeat Anthony McDonald via TKO.

Local fan favorite Elvis Gashi gave his fans a fun fight against Nick Chasteen. Gashi won via unanimous decision. Victor Pinto also defeated Nate Richardson via split decision.

Glory Superfight Series earlier in the evening featured Cedric Doumbe defeating Alan Scheinson via TKO. Tiffany Van Soest edged out a game Sofia Olofsson on the cards for a split decision victory. Itay Gershon’s 2nd round TKO win over Trevor Ragin, and Asa Ten Pow’s TKO win over Justin Greskiewicz, via liver shot were definitely highlights of the night.
