Former undisputed UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion, Henry Cejudo has claimed that the surging, #11 ranked contender, Umar Nurmagomedov is currently the “most dangerous” challenger amongst him and his peers, due to his diversity of offense.

Cejudo, a former undisputed two-weight champion under the banner of the Dana White-led promotion, snaps a three-year retirement from active competition later this year, returning to the Octagon at UFC 288 in May.

Headlining the pay-per-view event in Newark, New Jersey – Los Angeles-born challenger, Cejudo tackles current undisputed bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling – in a bid to reclaim the division title.

Last time out in April 2020, Cejudo, an Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling to boot, managed to defend the bantamweight crown in a late TKO victory finish over former two-time division champion, Dominick Cruz.

Sharing his thoughts on the ever-changing revolving door at bantamweight, Cejudo claimed Nurmagomedov – the brother of Bellator MMA lightweight champion, Usman Nurmagomedov, and cousin of former UFC lightweight titleholder, Khabib Nurmagomedov, is the “most dangerous” fighter at bantamweight currently.

“Umar (Nurmagomedov) is the most dangerous guy,” Henry Cejudo said on his YouTube channel. ‘At 135 pounds, out of all these cats that I see, Umar Nurmagomedov is the toughest challenge for any of them, including myself.”

“He can wrestle, he can striker, he can box, he’s well-rounded. He’s seen his brother and his cousin win world titles and he wants to be next,” Henry Cejudo explained. (Transcribed by MMA News
