While MMA fans across the world waited for Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov it looks like the UFC matchmakers have their sight set on an interim lightweight title fight between Tony Ferguson and Max Holloway for UFC 236.
Reports coming from Chris Taylor of BJPenn.com suggest this is the fight to potentially headline UFC 236.
I was just told from sources (the same that were involved in my pinned tweet) that an interim lightweight title fight between Max Holloway and Tony Ferguson is “being worked on” by officials for #UFC236 🔥

Both these men have some of the best records in the UFC and both are in double figures since they last lost. Tony’s current streak is 11 fights & current featherweight champ Max is riding a 13 win streak. If that doesn’t get you excited for this potential fight then nothing will.
Already announced for UFC 236 :
Israel Adesanya vs.Kelvin Gastelum – interim middleweight title
Wilson Reis vs. Alexandre Pantoja
Paige VanZant vs. Poliana Botelho
