SANTA FE, NM (Mon, February 26, 2018)– Jackson’s MMA Series XXIV took place at Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino in Santa Fe, NM on Saturday February 24, 2018. Below you will find the complete recap, official results and photographs.
Ricky and Company put on another spectacular event, if you’ve never been to a Jackson’s MMA Series event than you need to make it a point to go to the next one. This by far has been one of my favorite shows to cover up to date. This event was top-notch and well-organized with full and amazing lights. A DJ that had us dancing in our seats and getting us pumped for the fights. Aaron Burnett as ring announcer to get us hyped up for each fight. The matchmaker was on point putting on a stacked card as the entire card ended in a finish which made the judge’s job a lot easier.
Lets start with the main event and work our way down the fight card.
In the main event featured fan favorite Jess Martinez from Santa FE, NM training out of Superior Fitness/Santa Fe and Martial Arts as he took on another crowed favorite Roy Saucedo from Clovis, NM fighting out of Force of One. When both fighters started walking down the ramp to get in the cage the crowd cheered for their favorite trying to one up one another. The first round started off with both fighters feeling each other out until Jess took down Roy and ended up in side control. After a few seconds Roy gave up his back and that’s when Jess started looking for the finish. Jess started dropping bombs working his ground and pound and looking for a submission finish until the bell rang. Round two started where round one ended with Jess taking down Roy to the mat again looking to finish this fight. Jess kept working his Bjj as Roy kept defending his submission attempts until Jess transitions and sinks in a slick armbar and Roy had no choice but to tap out. Jess defeats Roy via submission (armbar) in Round 2 at the 4:25 mark.
In the co-main event, Cody Hoffstatter from Albuquerque. NM training out of JacksonWink took on Enrique Gonzalez from Chicago, IL fighting out of Valle Flow. This was another fight the fans were waiting for. Both fighters came in ready, the bell rang to start the first round if you blinked you missed the fight because as fast as the bell rang fourteen seconds in and the round ended. Enrique landed a perfect straight left and drops Cody to his knees and Enrique finishes the fight with two more punches until the ref had to stop the fight. This could be the fastest KO in Jackson’s MMA Series history. Enrique defeated Cody by KO in Round 1 at the :14 mark.
The rest of the card was the amateurs and these warriors came in proving to us fans why they deserve to be in the cage.
In the man event of the amateur card was Mark-Matthew “Royalty” McDill from Albuquerque, NM fighting out of JacksonWink took on Ozzy Chavez from Rio Rancho, NM fighting out of Judgement MMA. In the first round Ozzy wasted no time and clinched with Mark against the cage and started working, he did connect with some punches and kicks and Mark took them like a champ. Ozzy did take Mark down and worked his ground and pound the entire round. Round two started the same way round one ended with Ozzy being relentless in his clinch with constant pressure until Ozzy took down Mark to the mat and started dropping punches until the ref saw enough and waived the fight. Ozzy defeated Mark via TKO (punches) in Round 2 at the 1:41 mark.
In the co-main event, Eric Dodson (brother of UFC Vet John Dodson) from Albuquerque, NM fighting out of JacksonWink went against James Pleasant from El Paso, TX fighting out of RHO Martial Arts. In Round one they started to trade punches James being the taller fighter connected more with his punches and kicks but that didn’t stop Eric as he was able to connect as well. James was able to take Eric down and was trying to sink in a rear naked choke but Eric was defending every attempt until the bell rang. The start of round two after a few minutes on their feet James was able to take down Eric and had control as he started with his ground and pound he transitioned for an arm bar he secures it and that’s when Eric tapped out. James defeated Eric via submission (armbar) in Round 2 at the 1:46 mark.
Jonathan Macomb from Shawnee, OK took on Matt Addington from Pueblo, CO training out of Jackson’s MMA Association. In the start of the first round they started feeling each other out until Matt takes down Jonathan and gets full mount and was able to sink in a head-arm choke it was so deep that Jonathan passed out and that’s when the ref stopped the fight. Matt defeats Jonathan via submission (head-arm choke) in Round 1 at the 1:00 mark.
Josiah Reyes from Santa FE, NM fighting out of Superior Fitness/Santa Fe and Martial Arts went against David Archuleta from Farmington, NM fighting out of Zia Fight Club. Both fighters are coming to this fight with and 0-1 record and both are looking to get that win under their belt. In the start of the first round they started trading shots and feeling each other until Josiah takes down David and makes quick work to sink in the armbar until David taps. Josiah defeats David via submission (armbar) in Round 1 at the 2:10 mark.
Joseph Tapia from Santa FE, NM as he took on Andre Mitchell from Rio Rancho, NM fighting out of Judgement MMA. This fight ended real quick as both fighters ended up in a clinch against the cage until Andre saw the opportunity to take down Joseph but they end up on their feet and that’s when Joseph sinks in a quick standing D’Arce choke until Andre taps out. Joseph defeats Andre via submission (D’Arce choke) in Round 1 at the 1:04 mark.
Jesse Moorhouse from Albuquerque, NM fighting out of JacksonWink faced Alex Baumgartner from Santa FE, NM fighting out of ANK. In round one was more of a feeling out process with little to no action. In the start of round two they started trading blows connecting and that’s when Jesse was able to take down Alex. Jesse was able to take his back working a submission attempt until he was able to sink in a tight rear-naked choke until Alex taps. Jesse defeats Alex via submission (rear-naked choke) in Round 2 at the 2:19 mark.
To start the night out, Ashmamaz Dugulubgov from Albuquerque, NM fighting out of JacksonWink took on Christian “CJ” Boston from Las Cruces, NM fighting out of Legacy. In round one they wasted no time and started swinging for the fences. Ashmamaz connects almost dropping CJ, they continue to trade leather until Ashmamaz takes down CJ to the mat. Ashmamaz started dropping bombs but CJ was not having it and was able to get back on their feet. They continue to throw punches and kicks until the bell rang. In round two, both fighters looked tired after that hard-fought round one. Ashmamaz was able to connect to hurt CJ and takes that opportunity to take him down. Ashmamaz was picking his shots to hurt CJ with elbows and punches and was able to set up an in arm choke and CJ had no choice but to tapout. Ashmamaz defeates Christian via submission (in arm choke) in Round 2 at the 2:44 mark.
