Albuquerque, NM– JacksonWink: Fight Night 4 took place on Friday November 30, 2018 at the Isleta Resort & Casino in the Showroom. The event was hosted by Fresquez Productions, Inc. and FightBookMMA attended the event.
This event had 3 amateur fights and 5 professional fights. Fresquez Productions, Inc held an event for all the fight fans here in Albuquerque, NM and its surrounding areas. This fight card was stacked with amateur and pro warriors and they came to put on a show. Below you can find the official results, recap and post fight photographs.
Lets start with the preliminary card and work our way up to the main event. Lydia Warren and Alexandra Castillo started off the night. This fight only lasted one round as both fighters came in dropping bombs looking to connect to finish this fight quick. At one point, Lydia was able to take down Alexandra and was able to take her back. After a quick scramble, Alexandra was able to get back to her feet. But, Lydia once again took her down and made a quick transition to her back and sunk in the rear naked choke. Lydia Warren def. Next up was Alex Cardenas taking on Matthew Corebero. Another fight that ended quick, both fighters started off the round with a feel out process. Both were able to connect their punches until Alex was able to connect with a clean punch that dropped and he finished the fight with knees until the ref stopped the fight. Alex Cardenas def. In the main event of the prelim card, Cole Griego took on Aaron Taylor. Both fighters came in with one thing on their mind, finish this fight quick. And that’s exactly what happened, Aaron started throwing punches to the fences while Cole was able to keep calm dodging the punches. Cole was able to take down Aaron to the mat with a huge slam that rocked the cage. Cole takes his back and was able to sink in the rear naked choke. Cole Griego def. To start the main card we saw Henry Barahona take on Andrew Sosa. Another fight that only went one round and it was a fast paced fight. Henry started off the fight with kicks that connected to Henrys legs until Andrew took Henry to the cage and started his clinch work. Henry countered and was able to take him down to the mat. After a quick scramble, Henry was able to finish the fight with a sweet Kimura. Henry Barahona defeats Andrew Sosa by submission (Kimura) in Round 1 at the 2:15 mark.
Next up we saw Kali Robbins meet Celine Haga. This fight did go the distance as both fighters was able to connect with their striking. This was a very technical hard-fought fight and with some take downs with all three rounds going the same way. The judges had a hard fight to judge but at the end Kali Robbins was able to defeat Celine Haga by split decision with the scores of 28-29, 30-27, 29-28.
Next we saw Chris Brown taking on Warren Stewart. Another fight that went the distance as both fighters put on a show. During the first round Warren accidentally poked Chris in his right eye that the fight had to be stopped so the Doctor can check out his eye. After a few minutes Chris said he was ready. He fought through the entire night only seeing out of one eye. That didn’t stop him and he kept on throwing some flying knees and wild kicks. Warren on the other hand was able to hold his own throwing some combinations and knees to Chris during the clinch and when they were on the mat he was able to defend the bombs Chris was dropping on him. Both fighters fought a very intense fight but at the end the judges saw the fight to Chris with a unanimous decision win.
In the co-main event, Marquis Smith took on Ricky Esquibel. This was a fast paced fight as Ricky started off with some quick striking and taking down Marquis getting side control. After a quick scramble they ended up on their feet and in the clinch. Ricky tries to take down Marquis but Marquis was able to get top position. Marquis tries to sink in a choke but Ricky was able to muscle out and made quick work to end up on their feet. During the second round Ricky again takes down Marquis and gets top position after another scramble they end up on their feet and started trading blows. Marquis was getting the better of the exchanges connecting more with his striking and knees hurting Ricky to the point where the ref had to waive off the fight. Marquis Smith defeats Ricky Esquibel by TKO knees & punches in Round 2 at the 3:17 mark.
In the main event, Steve Garcia Jr. took on Able Cullum. Well what can we say about this fight other than it was a BLOODY WAR! Both men went to the distance and this was the bloodiest fight I’ve seen and pretty much everyone in the crowd as well. During all the rounds these two kept the crowd on their feet exchanging blows where in round two Cullum suffered a huge cut on his head from an elbow. But that didn’t stop Cullum to keep on fighting. The rest of the rounds was the same as both fighters land strikes and kicks but the submission attempts was hard since they were very slippery covered in all the DNA Cullum was dropping from his cut. Both fighters fought a very hard-fought fight but at the end Steve Garcia Jr. defeats Able Cullum by unanimous decision with scores of 50-45, 50-45, 49-46.
