Jake Paul will take on Ben Askren in a boxing match on April 17

Triller’s Fight Club announced that Jake Paul will return to the ring on April 17th, 2021 following the record-setting PPV event produced by Fight Club’s Ryan Kavanaugh and Bobby Sarnevesht, which shattered all digital fight PPV records and became the 8th most successful Fight PPV in history.

Jake will headline for The Fight Club’s event against MMA vet Ben Askren per Ariel Helwani on a tweet he sent today.

The fight will be contested with 10-ounce gloves in a 20-by-20 ring. It will mark the first pro boxing match of Askren’s career. Askren is still under contract with the UFC but sources did say he did receive permission from the UFC to take the fight. The weight class for the fight hasn’t been finalized yet, sources say that it could be a 185-190-pound fight.

Askren was the former Bellator and ONE Welterweight Champion before competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). During his stint with the UFC, he went against Demian Maia and lost due to a technical submission (rear-naked choke). He also lost against Jorge Masvidal via KO (flying knee). At his UFC debut, he defeated Robbie Lawler by technical submission (bulldog choke) UFC 235.

Jake is a YouTuber, internet personality, actor, rapper, and professional boxer. He made his boxing debut back in January 2020. He defeated fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib via first-round TKO. His second win was a second-round knockout of former NBA star Nate Robinson back in November when they fought on the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. card.

This will mark the second boxing event that Triller, a video-making and social-networking app, has made. Stay tuned to FightBook MMA as we will have more with location and fight card.
