Johnathan Ivey’s Cage Fighting Championships (CFC) 5 will take place on Saturday October 20, 2018 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee at the Mid TN Expo Center. Event doors will open at 630 p.m. and fights will start at 730 pm.
One of the fighters making his MMA debut is Jared Parrish. He trains under the tutelage of CFC veteran Jason Herring. Before he steps in the cage to face Adonis Bonilla, he sat down and talked to CEO of FightBookMMA Roberto Villa.
Jared thanks for taking time out of your schedule to chat with me. Can you tell the fans a bit about yourself.
I’m just a man trying to make name for myself.
With all the sports out there any particular reason why you became an MMA fighter?
Because I’ve lost alot that meant more than life to me and the art of combat is all I have left.
What’s it like to train under Jason Herring?
Very rewarding, I wouldn’t be where I am without him coaching me.
Have you ever sparred with Jason, does he hit as hard as people say?
Yes I’ve sparred with him and let’s just say my defense is in top shape because of his striking power.
Knowing that Adonis comes from a well rounded gym with great fighters does that concern you?
No it does not.
This being your debut fight, as the fight gets closer are the nerves starting to increase?
No it is not, I feel the same as I did when I first took on the fight. I have nothing to lose and everything to gain and physical pain is not what scares me.
If you defeat Adonis do you want to immediately fight someone in the top 5 CFC lightweight rankings?
Give me that belt
Walk us through how you see the fight with Adonis going?
I see the fight going my way and that’s the only way. I will take whatever opportunities are presented to me.
Anything you want to tell Adonis before you face him in the cage?
Jared thanks again for your time. Any sponsors or any shoutouts you’d like to make the floor is yours.
Thank you to my family and friends and my beautiful girlfriend. They’ve helped me through more than just this fight. Also thank you to Jason Herring for teaching me and all my sparring partners and teachers who’ve prepared me to win.
