Jeff Hughes is set to defend his heavyweight title. He will come up against Maurice Greene in the title defence match, in the LFA 38 main event. It will take place on the 27th of April, 2018. The venue will be at The Armory, Minneapolis.

Hughes (8-1), won the LFA heavyweight title in his debut pro match in November of last year defeating Richard Odoms via unanimous decision. He is known to be a no-nonsense fighter with half of his wins coming via stoppage, and three others via knockouts or TKOs. A big ace Hughes has up his sleeve is that he trains with UFC heavyweight champion, Stipe Mocic. It is well known that he was influential in helping Mocic retain his UFC title against Francis Ngannou.

Greene on his own part has won both fights he’s had in the LFA promotion. It is expected that he will bring the fight to Champion, Hughes. Not one to hold back, during Legacy FC 60, he knocked out opponent, Zach Thumb in just 25 seconds with a knee to the head. In August 2017, at LFA 19, he again defeated opponent Jermaine McDermott via submission utilising a triangle choke.

As it can be seen from the above analysis of both men, it will not be an easy fight. The odds lie with champion Jeff Hughes, as he is currently a hotshot in the sport. If that is not enough, he has the added motivation of setting the record for most LFA heavyweight championship title defences if he vanquishes underdog Greene. However, a more worthy opponent than Greene will be hard to find. He is a worthy underdog and a thorough fan favourite.

Meanwhile, the co-main event at LFA 38 will pit Bevon Lewis (4-0) against Collin Huckbody (3-1) in the middleweight bout.
