For the first time since 2007, Jeremy Stephens will compete outside of the UFC. On Monday’s edition of the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Stephens reported that he had signed a deal with PFL and expects to debut with the promotion later this year.
Stephens’ UFC career comes to a close on the tail end of a six-fight streak without a victory (five losses and one no contest) between 2018 and 2021. During his 34-fight tenure with the UFC between 2007 and 2021, Stephens accumulated a 15-18, 1 NC record with the promotion and secured 10 post fight bonuses as well.
Vaunted for his knockout ability, Stephens secured highlight reel knockouts over the likes of former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos, The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 1 Featherweight winner Rony Jason, and top Featherweight contender Josh Emmett. Stephens was also able to notch decision victories over former UFC Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao and former Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez during his time with the promotion.
Stephens is expected to compete in the PFL’s Lightweight division alongside the likes of fellow UFC transplants Anthony Pettis, Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Stevie Ray.
