Former two-time UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones appears to have taken exception to the latest UFC rankings update which saw him fall two slots from the official pound-for-pound rankings to #4, as he branded the format as “silly” before requesting the promotion remove him from the official rankings pool.

Jones, who has been out of action since February of last year, was seated at #2 in the official pound-for-pound pile before the updated rankings were released earlier this week, dropping his #1 perch to welterweight kingpin, Kamaru Usman back in September.

In a further falter for the Rochester native, he has since dropped to #4 in the official rankings, with featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski leapfrogging him to #2, while middleweight champion and rival, Israel Adesanya cracks the top-3 in place of Jones.

The Albuquerque resident officially vacated his undisputed light heavyweight championship back in August of last year with intentions to make his much-speculated move to the heavyweight division — which has still yet to come to fruition following rather public negotiation fallouts with the promotion and president, Dana White.

Back in September, Jones was also arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada following his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame, and subsequently charged with misdemeanor battery domestic violence allegedly against his fiancée, Jesse, as well as a felony charge of injuring or tampering with a vehicle when he is alleged to have headbutted a responding Las Vegas Metro Police Department police cruiser, resulting in a medium-sized dent in the vehicle’s hood, as well as causing paint to chip.

In a series of tweets on his official Twitter tonight, Jones addressed his recent falter in the official pound-for-pound rankings, as well as requesting the promotion remove him from the rankings pool officially.

It’s funny seeing people have the satisfaction of being ranked over me when i’m not even competing,” Jones tweeted. “Just take me off that silly list.

In another tweet which appears to be directed at the aforenoted, Adesanya, Jones questioned how the City Kickboxing striker could be ranked higher than him, pointing out the fact the Nigerian-Kiwi suffered multiple takedowns against current light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz back in March in his first professional loss.

When your (sic) ranked over Jon Jones on a pound for pound list but know you can’t defend a take down,” Jones tweeted.

In his most recent Octagon walk, Jones successfully defended the light heavyweight title back in the main event of UFC 247 in February of last year via a close, dubious unanimous decision victory over Dominick Reyes at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
