Kaline Medeiros pumped to perform in CES homecoming
Lincoln, R.I. (Wed, March 21, 2018)– Before fan-favorite Kaline Medeiros makes her long-awaited, highly anticipated return to New England at CES 49 on April 6 in Lincoln, R.I., LIVE on AXS TV Fights, the former Invicta title challenger sat down with Fightbook MMA.
How did you find MMA to begin with?
It’s been a while (laughs) — at least 10 years ago. At the time I was at a regular gym, but I wasn’t really motivated at all. I ended up going to an MMA school — a friend of mine invited me. That was my first day. I fell in love and I never left.
What is it about MMA?
It’s not about the money, to be honest with you, because there’s not a lot of money in the sport. I still have to work 40 hours a week doing construction. But it’s a passion. I fell in love with fighting and I’m still in love with it. I love the crowd. I love performing.
How does it feel to be back with CES?
It feels good! It’s been too long (laughs). All my friends in the area want to come see me fight — they don’t just want to watch on TV, like with Invicta. So I’m going to give them what they want. I’m still under contract with Invicta, but I got their permission to bring a little bit of excitement home.
Do you have a preference — fighting in New England or going elsewhere?
It is exciting, of course, because everyone you know is going to be there. But, at the same time, I love Invicta. I feel at home, whether it’s with Invicta or CES — I really don’t have a preference. I’m just excited to put on a show for my people.
What would you like to accomplish in the next 12 months?
In the next 12 months, I want to fight two more times this year, after this one. The Invicta title is still in my sights. I want to be as active as possible and just keep winning and putting on exciting performances.
