Keyshawn Davis Kicks Off Norfolk Fight Week with Visit to Local Elementary School

NORFOLK, Va. — Lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis, born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, returned to where it all began to kick off fight week.
Davis visited his alma mater, Jaycox Elementary School, on Monday afternoon. As he arrived, a welcoming parade of kindergarten through fourth graders chanted the name of their hometown hero. Davis then made his way to the school’s auditorium, where he addressed more than 50 fifth graders, encouraging them with stories about his childhood, his years at Jaycox and his journey from Norfolk to professional success. He brought the students down from the stands to give a brief boxing demonstration. Davis then signed posters for students and faculty, many of whom were his teachers nearly 20 years ago.
Davis (11-0, 7 KOs), who won silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, will make his main event and homecoming debut on Friday night in a 10-round bout against Gustavo Lemos (29-1, 19 KOs). The entire card will be streamed live exclusively in the US on ESPN+ starting at 6:20pm ET/3:20pm PT.
In addition to a middleweight bout between Troy Eisley (13-0, 5 KOs) and Tyler Howard (20-1, 11 KOs), Keyshawn’s two brothers will also be on the show: Keyshawn’s older brother, junior welterweight contender Kelvin Davis (13-0, 7 KOs), returns in an eight-round bout against Jesus Solano (15-3, 10 KOs), while his younger brother, Keon Davis, makes his pro debut in a four-round bout against junior middleweight Jaylen Moore (1-1, 1 KO).
