KSW 53 took place Saturday evening, July 11 from a studio in Warsaw, Poland and it was the first major MMA event in Europe since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world.
Mateusz Gamrot (16-0) remained undefeated as he picked apart his rival Norman Parke (28-7-1) over three rounds in a near-flawless performance. The referee stepped in and called upon the cageside doctor who then declared that Parke could not continue due to cuts near the eye.
In the co-main event, it was Borys Mankowski (21-8-1) who walked away with the decision in a grueling war with Marcin Wrzosek (14-7), in what was the former longtime KSW welterweight champion’s debut in the lightweight division.
Elsewhere on the card Tomasz Drwal (22-5-1) had a successful return to action after five years away, Andrzej Grzebyk (17-3) made a statement on his KSW debut with a second-round KO win, and former champion Artur Sowinski (21-11) scored a third straight first-round victory.
