KSW 58 took place earlier tonight from Lodz, Poland. It was the first KSW event of 2021 and it provided a huge upset in the MMA world.
Brazilian Daniel Torres (12-4) captured the KSW featherweight title and handed Salahdine Parnasse (14-1-1) the first loss of his young career. Torres was a major underdog heading into this contest but proved you can never rule anyone out in MMA as a glancing arm caught Parnasse on the side of the head and sent him to the canvas early in the first round.
In the co-main event Olympic gold & silver medalist in weightlifting Szymon Kolecki (9-1) moved to 3-0 in KSW and earned the first decision win of his career. The 39-year-old, who is still growing as a martial artist, defeated German-Polish veteran Martin Zawada (29-16-1) by unanimous decision.
Elsewhere on the card Michal Michalski (9-4) scored his third straight stoppage victory in KSW with a TKO win over Mirko Cro Cop protégé Aleksandar Rakas (16-8), Michal Andryszak (22-9) got back to winning ways with a dominant win over Brazilian veteran Guto Inocente (8-5), and Shamil Musaev (15-0) handed Uros Jurisic (11-1) his first loss in a high level contest that was marred by a post-fight scuffle involving both teams. A matter that will be reviewed and addressed by KSW officials in the coming days.
