LFA 180: Lawrence vs. Ward Fight Card Set for March 29 in Louisville, KY

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — LFA CEO Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will have a new headliner for its debut event in Louisville, Kentucky. The main event will feature two of the featherweight division’s most exciting prospects. The change came after the original headliner Kevin Fernandez withdrew from his bout with an injury. LFA 180 will be the second LFA event to take place in the Bluegrass State and its first event to be hosted in the state’s most populous city of Louisville.

LFA 180: Lawrence vs. Ward, presented by BetOnline, takes place Friday, March 29th at the Broadbent Arena at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

The main event will feature a featherweight showdown between top prospects Lance “The Tornado” Lawrence and Landry “The Lone Star Kid” Ward. The entire main card will be available worldwide on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.

Tickets for LFA 180: Lawrence vs. Ward are available for purchase now through Ticketmaster.com.

“We are excited to make our debut in Louisville, Kentucky at LFA 180,” stated Soares. “We made our debut in the Bluegrass State last year at LFA 160 in Owensboro and we are now excited to travel to the state’s most populous city. Louisville is the home of Muhammad Ali and has a long history and appreciation for combat sports. We are excited to add to that history with a fight card stacked with top international, national, and regional talent. The new main event features Louisville’s own Lance Lawrence, who is the top prospect in the state and a veteran of Dana White’s Contender Series. He will face Landry Ward, who was just nominated for the LFA Fans’ Choice Awards: Fight of the Year. There will be a lot at stake when these two meet in the main event of LFA 180.”

Lawrence (7-4) is a fighter that has long been considered one of the top prospects to emerge from “The Bluegrass State”. In fact, after beginning his professional MMA career with a perfect 5-0 record, he was invited to compete on the third season of Dana White’s Contender Series in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lawrence would face top undefeated prospect Kevin Syler. The Bolivian hit the scale a whopping 6.5 pounds over the weight limit, but the Kentuckian took the fight anyway. This gameness has been a hallmark of Lawrence’s career, which has made him a fan favorite. Now the man known as “The Tornado” is ready to bring a whirlwind of excitement to his hometown of Louisville in the main event of LFA 180.

Ward (8-2) is one of Texas’ most beloved fighters and fastest-rising prospects, which he pays tribute to with his well-known nickname “The Lone Star Kid”. The proud Fort Worth native made his professional debut in the city of Dallas and celebrated his four-year anniversary in the sport with the first LFA headliner of his career at LFA 169. This came on the strength of a “Fight of the Year” nominated performance that he made in his promotional debut last summer. Ward was nominated for the honor after defeating top Brazilian prospect Matheus Pereira in an all-action war at LFA 163. Now after a pair of memorable bouts for the promotion, Ward will take his talents on the road to headline LFA 180.
