LAS VEGAS – The neon lights and exciting sights of Las Vegas are about to get a jolt of Muay Thai mayhem as Lion Fight Promotions returns to Sin City.
Lion Fight 53 will take place on Saturday, March 30th at the Downtown Events Center adjacent to the famous Fremont Street in the heart of Vegas. This event will air live on CBS Sports Network beginning at 8 p.m. PT / 11 p.m. ET.
Lion Fight CEO Scott Kent states:
“The big fight atmosphere is a historical aspect of Las Vegas, and Lion Fight is very excited to bring its very special brand of fighting to the most-famous city in the United States”
The Downtown Events Center has become Vegas’ premier outdoor venue as hosts of several concerts and special events, including the city’s largest Super Bowl party and the Las Rageous music festival. It is a natural fit for Lion Fight as America’s leader in Muay Thai action has hosted some of its most popular events outside under the bright lights in Las Vegas.
Lion Fight 53 will be headlined by an international superfight with a world title shot awaiting the winner. Knockout artists and fan favorite Steve “Put ‘Em To Sleep” Walker (6-0) will stand across the ring from Bader Ferdaous (23-3-2), the top student of world renown striker Peter Aerts. Walker is the reigning Lion Fight North American super cruiserweight champion and the Boston, Massachusetts, product kept his perfect record intact this past October when he notched a brutal fourth-round knockout victory over Kristaps Zile in his first superfight headlining spot. At just 14 years old, Ferdaous started training under idol Aerts and now at 21 is a blossoming star on the international stage. A native of Rotterdam, Netherlands, Ferdaous has captured knockout victories in three of his last five outings.
Also slated for the Lion Fight 53 main card is a featherweight showdown pitting rising star Ricardo Mixco (2-0) against formidable veteran Anthony Castrejon (7-5). Mixco, who fights out of Baltimore, Maryland, is coming off a pair of devastating knockout victories, highlighted by dispatching British standout Evan Jays inside the opening round. He will face a tough test, however, in clashing with Castrejon, who will have the crowd on his side fighting in his home town.
After competing in the Lion Fight ring as an amateur, Magalie Alvarez (2-1) returns as a blossoming young pro. Fighting out of North Hollywood, California, Alvarez went undefeated in the amateur ranks, winning three championships along the way. Uma Galli steps in on short notice to replace the originally scheduled Andy Nguyen. The Stockholm, Sweden, native was also an undefeated amateur and is considered a high-end prospect.
