Lion Fight 74: Walker vs Duszmal set for July 8

LION FIGHT returns to its home on the U.S. East Coast for a massive event as Lion Fight 74 will take place on Friday, July 8 at the amazing House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. ET and are available at https://www.ticketmaster.com/event/01005CA43E54E9E2.

The Lion Fight 74 main card, headlined by Boston’s own World and North American Super Cruiserweight champion Steve “Put ’Em To Sleep” Walker, will air live on FITE beginning at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT / Midnight GMT. Order the event at www.fite.tv.

This will be the second World title defense for the undefeated Walker (11-0) in his hometown following his five-round decision over Ivan Bartek in December 2021. This time around he’ll face the best super cruiserweight from Europe as he takes on Mateusz Duszmal. Walker originally captured his World title at Lion Fight 58 win a win over Australia’s Chris Bradford, but is perhaps best-known to this day for his sensational victory at Lion Fight 64 as he retained his North American belt with a tornado head-kick knockout over Brian Collette in just 46 seconds. That electrifying finish earned Walker the Knockout of the Year from UFC Fight Pass. Duszmal (26-12-2) will certainly bring a top-flight challenge to Walker, though, having won multiple titles in the past including the 2015 Theprassit Pattaya Stadium Championship in Thailand. Originally from Pleszew, Poland, Duszmal now fights out of Leeds, England.

Lion Fight 74’s co-main event will pit two of the organization’s heavy hitters across the ring from each other with the inaugural North American Heavyweight Title at stake. Fan favorite Warren “Destroyer” Thompson, who fights out of Atlanta, Georgia, USA, will toe the line against knockout artist Hassan “H-Bomb” Oseni, representing Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Thompson (12-9) made his Lion Fight debut in the North American Heavyweight Title Tournament semi-final where he notched a decision victory over Cody East, and then put in a heroic effort facing Walker for the North American Super Cruiserweight belt on less than a week’s notice at Lion Fight 69. Oseni (9-1) stepped between the Lion Fight ropes for the first time in February 2021 and he made an immediate impression, knocking out Chris Trammell at 1:25 of the first round.

In another bout set for the Lion Fight 74 main card, up-and-coming heavyweight Jorge Vega (3-0) of Providence, Rhode Island, will meet Danyelle Williams, who fights out of Duluth, Minnesota. Vega has been perfect since entering the Lion Fight ranks, scoring three knockouts, including devastating stoppages in both of appearances in Boston in 2021. Williams, who has previously fought for CES and ShoBox, will be making his first trip inside the Lion Fight ring.

Additional main card bouts, including the return of buzzsaw welterweight Shaun Shubert, will be announced shortly as well as a full lineup of amateur prelims.
