Lom-Ali Eskiev makes promotional debut against Ivan Buchinger at OKTAGON 60
Europe’s leading MMA promotion, OKTAGON MMA, are back this weekend for our first event following the summer break. We return to Rudolf Weber-Arena in Oberhausen, Germany, on Saturday, September 7, for OKTAGON 60. The card is packed full of fun fights with athletes who like to deliver exciting finishes and also features the anticipated promotional debut of one of the continent’s finest talents.
In the main event, Slovak MMA legend, Ivan Buchinger (43-9), collides with former KSW and ACA standout, Lom-Ali Eskiev (21-7, 1NC) at lightweight. ‘Buki’ was the first ever OKTAGON MMA double champion but arguably turned in his most impressive performance to date last time out in July when he stopped Łukasz Rajewski by submission. Eskiev is one of the best fighters to come out of Germany’s famed UFD Gym and would make an immediate impact in his new home if he can take out a true European great.
UFC veteran, Niklas Stolze (13-7), will square off with Muay Thai specialist, Matouš Kohout (11-7), in the welterweight co-headliner. ‘Green Mask’ landed a brilliant knockout over Andrej Kalašnik in his return to the company last November but suffered a setback against Máté Kertész earlier this year. Kohout is a previous Tipsport Gamechanger competitor and has won all of his bouts since moving up a weight class. Stolze has some of the biggest names in the division on his radar but needs to advance past ‘Mighty Rooster’ this Saturday night in order to face them.
Two likely high-paced, all striking affairs will go down on the main card that will bring the Oberhausen crowd to their feet. OKTAGON Challenge Germany participant, Jaime Cordero (5-2), will throw down with Milan Ďatelinka (10-7), who stunned with a 14-second knockout in his recent outing, at middleweight – this one won’t go the distance! Former GMC champion, Marcel Grabinski (23-10), meets dangerous standup artist, Jakub Bahník (9-5, 1NC), in a lightweight bout which guarantees fireworks.
Elsewhere on the card, Afghan fighter, Wahed Nazhand (8-2), looks to pick up his second victory in OKTAGON MMA when he faces tough Bosnian, Max Handanagić (9-6-1), at welterweight and Losene Keita’s teammate, Hassan Shaaban (3-1), will bring his usual intensity opposite promotional newcomer, Kevin Enz (3-1), also in a welterweight contest. Furthermore, Daniel Hromek (3-4) wants to get back into the win column when he clashes with top prospect, Emir-Can Al (1-0), at welterweight.
OKTAGON 60 will be broadcast live on OKTAGON.TV internationally as well as worldwide on the global platform, DAZN, in all markets except from CZ/SK. Fans in France can also tune in on RMC Sport. The action begins at 5pm BST/6pm CEST/12pm ET/9am CT.
