Matches To Make After Bellator 245

Bellator’s fourth event since coming back after cancelling months worth of events due to the pandemic was headlined by a long anticipated rematch between Phil Davis and Lyoto Machida and the promotion
al debut of “Alpha” Cat Zingano. The rest of the four fight main card had a no contest sub-minute submission of the night.
Let’s take a look at some matchups that should be next for these winners.
Cat Zingano
Many people wondered how Cat Zingano was going to look in her promotional debut. Looking at her 1-4 record in her last 5 fights, many looked it she was over the hill and just didn’t have it anymore. Luckily she showed why she was started 9-0 in her career using her high level wrestling and smothering style. The always game Gabby Holloway was getting dominated for the better part of 3 rounds but had moments in the 3rd where she had Zingano on her back and was on top mount for about 2 minutes but Zingano fought through the adversity to notch up a unanimous decision victory. She proved she is already at the top of this Featherweight division, unless she wants another tune-up fight, Zingano should stake her claim for the championship. She poses an issue Cyborg has yet to face, an elite level wrestler.

Phil Davis
In the rematch, Davis edged out Machida to gain a split decision victory (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). This was a fight where both men were point hunting wherever they can, which led to a low strike output but a very technical fight as well. This performance puts Davis in the front of the line of the contenders for newly minted champion Vadim Nemkov. Davis utilized his long reach to keep distance with Machida, and used his long legs as well especially his front kick. Davis, gave praise to Nemkov but warned him “I’m coming”.
