Matthew Griego has a New Opponent for Saturday’s Fight

ABQ native Matthew Griego has a new opponent for Saturday. After fellow Albuquerque native Abraham Perez was forced to withdraw from their “Duke City Civil War” showdown earlier this week, Griego (14-0, 10 KOs) will now fight Gilberto Mendoza (23-18-4, 11 KOs) in an eight-round flyweight bout (weight limit: 112 lbs) at Tingley Coliseum.
Griego-Mendoza will be on the undercard of the IBF featherweight world title fight between champion Luis Alberto Lopez (30-2, 17 KOs) and ABQ native/former world champion Angelo Leo (24-1, 11 KOs).
Lopez vs. Leo & the junior welterweight battle between Lindolfo Delgado & Bryan Flores will be televised LIVE on ESPN @ 8 p.m. Griego vs. Mendzoa will stream EXCLUSIVELY on ESPN+ at approximately 7 p.m.
