Before Mike Scarcello returns to action against Derek Boyle at Unified 33 on May 11 at Cree River Resort & Casino in Enoch, Alta., the former title challenger checked in with FightbookMMA.
What’s your takeaway from your most recent fight?
I‘m going to take my time a little more and set-up my takedowns.
Do you think that this loss will be a positive at the end of the day?
Yeah, most definitely. I’ve learned a lot from that fight. I’m going to learn, grow, and keep moving forward. You learn a lot from a loss, that’s for sure.
What does Derek Boyle bring to the table?
He’s a tough, durable guy. He comes from a good gym. I think he’s mostly a striker, but he’s really tough. He’s fought some of the best guys in Canada. It’ll be a tough fight, but I’m looking forward to it.
Do you think he’s ever fought an opponent like you?

No, I don’t think so. Every fighter is different – everyone has their individual specialties. I think everyone is a little different – I don’t think he’s fought anyone like me.
What’s the most likely outcome for this fight?
I‘m looking to take him out – I’m looking to finish him. Knockout, submission – whatever comes first, I’m going to finish him.
